Simplex Engg. Works

Simplex Engg. Works is over at Plot No-12/474 in Gwaltoli. We are quite close to the church, so it’s a fairly easy landmark for people to find. We’ve been in this workshop for a long time. It smells like metal and oil in here, which is exactly how an engineering shop should smell if it’s actually busy. We don’t have a fancy showroom. What you see is a lot of machines and tools and people trying to fix or make things. It’s noisy and sometimes we have to shout over the machines to hear each other. We aren’t the type of people who sit in meetings all day. Usually, we’re out on the floor figuring out a mechanical problem or welding something. It’s not a glamorous job, but we like it. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’d rather spend the money on a new tool or keeping the machines running smooth. If you drop by, you might have to wait a minute while someone wipes their hands to talk to you. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who know the trade. We’ve stayed in Gwaltoli because it’s where we started and we know the people around here. We just focus on the work in front of us and try not to overcomplicate things. It’s just a practical workshop doing its daily work near the church.
