Parihar Books Stall

If you’re walking down the Main Road in Rampura, near Shyam Nagar, you’ll see our stall. It isn’t a big building or anything, just a local spot where we keep the daily papers and a good variety of books for people to browse. We open up pretty early in the morning because that’s when people want their news before they head off to work or the station. The space is small, so we have to be clever about how we hang the magazines and stack the novels so they don't fall over. It can get a bit hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the stall, but we have a small fan that helps a bit. We know most of the people who stop by by name because they live nearby. They usually have their favorite topics or authors they ask about every time they see us. We don’t have a fancy website or any of that. We just rely on being here every day and having what people need. Sometimes we get a shipment of new books and the whole place smells like fresh ink and paper for a few days, which is nice. We try to keep things neat, but with so many different papers coming in, it’s a constant battle with the clutter. It’s a simple business, really. We just provide a place for the neighborhood to pick up something to read without much hassle.
