We are located over at the Hindustan Tannery Compound in Jajmau. Specifically, it’s No. 87/ 73 5. If you know this part of town, you know it’s where all the leather work happens. We focus on footwear here. The smell of the tanneries is something you just get used to after a week or so. It’s a busy environment with a lot of heavy lifting and boxes being moved from one truck to another. My hands are usually a bit dirty from checking the soles and the leather quality. We don’t have a big front desk or anyone in a suit. Usually, it’s just us in our work clothes making sure the shoes are ready to go out. Jajmau is a practical place, and our shop reflects that. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because the shoes are what matter most. Sometimes the machines act up or the power goes out, which slows everything down, but that’s just part of life here. We’ve been in this compound for years now. Most of our neighbors are doing similar things, so there's a sense of everyone just getting through the day. We take pride in the stuff we put together, even if the building looks a bit old from the outside. The floors are concrete and the lights are basic, but the work gets done and the shoes are sent out on time.
