We’ve been at Dinesh Bhavan for a good while now. Payyambalam is where we handle all the food stuff. It’s a busy spot, mostly because people know where to find us. We don't have a big fancy office, just the space here. My brother and I started this because we wanted to do something local. Most days start pretty early. We have to get the stock sorted before the sun gets too hot. People stop by the door sometimes just to ask what's fresh today. We keep things simple. The building itself is easy to spot once you're in the neighborhood. We try to keep things moving so nothing sits around for too long. Sometimes the delivery trucks take up the whole lane, but the neighbors are used to it by now. It’s a small operation, really. Just a few of us making sure everything is packed right. We spend a lot of time checking the bags. It’s not a corporate setup. You won't find us in suits. Usually, we’re just in our work clothes. Payyambalam has a certain feel to it, and we like being part of that. There’s always something to do, like cleaning up or looking at the inventory. It gets tiring but it’s okay because it’s ours. We get the bags delivered and then we weigh everything out. We don't have a computer system; we mostly use a notebook and a pen. It works fine for us. We’re just a local business trying to make a living. It’s a good life.
