New Prince Handicrafts

We are located right across from the Sree Chovva Shiva Temple in Mele Chovva. It’s a very recognizable spot, and the temple bells are a constant sound in our daily lives here. Our shop is filled with all kinds of handcrafted items, mostly things made by local artisans or sourced from around the region. We have wooden carvings, brass pieces, and a lot of small trinkets that people like to buy as gifts. The shop has a specific smell of wood and metal polish that stays with you. We aren't a big showroom with air conditioning and fancy lighting. It’s more of a traditional store where things are packed in, and you have to look around to find the real treasures. We spend a lot of time dusting the shelves and talking to visitors who stop by after visiting the temple. Some days are very busy, especially during festival times when the whole street is packed with people. Other days, it’s just us and the shop, waiting for someone to take an interest in a particular carving. We enjoy the history behind the things we sell. Every piece has a bit of a story, even if it’s just about who made it or where the wood came from. It’s a slow pace of work, but it feels right for Mele Chovva. We’ve been here a long time and plan to stay.
