Sungal & Rampur Tea Estates

Sungal & Rampur Tea Estates is situated up in the Kangra valley. Our main office is at the Sungal Tea Estate, just past the local post office. Life moves a bit slower here compared to the big cities. The weather is a big part of our daily routine. One minute it is sunny over the tea bushes, and the next, the clouds roll in from the mountains and everything gets damp. Our building is old, built with thick walls that stay cool even when it is warm outside. Inside, we have maps of the estate pinned to the walls and shelves full of old records. The smell of fresh tea is everywhere, which is something you get used to after a few days. We spend a lot of time out in the fields or in the small processing area near the Taluka. It is not a quiet place when the machines are running, but otherwise, you can just hear the birds and the wind. We do not bother with decorations or anything fancy. Sometimes the road up here gets blocked by rain, so we just wait for it to clear and get back to work. Most of our workers have been with us for a long time, some for their whole lives. We just focus on the harvest and making sure the crates are labeled and ready for the trucks that go down the mountain to the markets.
