Khalate Tea Estate

If you get off at the bus stand in Rajpur Village, you aren’t far from Khalate Tea Estate. We are right there in the Panchrukhi Tehsil. It’s a handy spot because the bus makes it easy for people to find us. Our post goes to Thakurdwara. Being in the Kangra District, we get our fair share of mountain weather. The estate keeps us pretty busy all year round. We don't have many fancy tools, just the stuff that works. It is a bit noisy near the bus stand sometimes, but we don't mind the activity. Rajpur is a small village where everyone knows each other. Khalate Tea Estate is just a part of the scenery now. We start work when the sun comes up. There is always a lot of walking involved in a place like this. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us making sure things don't fall apart. Sometimes things break and we have to fix them ourselves. It isn't a glamorous job, but it is honest. We've been in this part of Panchrukhi for a while now. We just keep going, day after day. It is a simple way to live and work. We don't bother with much else besides the estate. If you’re ever near the bus stand, you’ll see us there. The gates are usually open and the tea is always growing. It is our whole life.
