Bodhi Tree Cafe

Bodhi Tree Cafe is sitting up in Bhagsunag, in the Upper Mcleodganj area of Dharamshala. If you’ve spent any time here, you know the walk up the hill from the main town can be a bit of a workout. We’re located in a spot that’s a bit away from the loudest parts of the market. The cafe is small and honestly a bit old-fashioned. We haven't spent much on fancy decorations. Instead, we have some old wooden tables and chairs that we’ve gathered over time. It’s the kind of place where people come to sit after walking to the Bhagsu waterfall or visiting the temple. We’re just a few people running the show here, doing the cooking and serving ourselves. The mountain weather means we get a lot of mist and rain, so the cafe often feels like a cozy hideout. We have some books on the shelves that people have left behind over the years, and anyone is welcome to read them. It’s not a polished business with a big plan. We just liked the idea of having a cafe in the mountains where we could work and meet different people. Some days are very quiet. We just sit and watch the clouds move over the ridges. Other days, every seat is taken. We just take it as it comes and try to keep things friendly for whoever stops by after their walk.
