Assam Tea Company

You can find Assam Tea Company on Railway Road, not far from the Kali Kamli Dharam Shala. It is an old part of the city and the building we are in has seen better days. But it works for what we do. We have been here for a long time, and the locals know the smell of our tea as they walk by. The trains passing nearby make the windows rattle sometimes. We spend the day weighing out portions and sealing them up. It is repetitive work, but it has a rhythm to it. We don't use any fancy technology here. A basic scale and some bags are all we really need. There are always piles of tea around, and we try to keep everything organized, though it doesn't always stay that way. People coming from the dharam shala often drop in to see what we have. We talk to them while we work. It is a very informal environment. No one wears a suit or holds meetings. We just drink tea and talk about the business. Sometimes we run out of a certain type of leaf and have to wait for the next shipment, which can be annoying. But that is life on Railway Road. We keep the doors open and just get on with the tasks at hand. It is an honest way to make a living, selling tea in a place we know well. We just stay busy and do the work.
