We are Kandhamal Golden Spices Producer Company. Our office is care of Mrs. Sasmita Behera in Nilungia. This is in Raikia which is part of G Udayagiri in the Phulbani area. Kandhamal is known for its spices and that is what we do here. We work with local producers. It’s not a big fancy factory. It’s more of a community-based setup. We spend a lot of time sorting through spices and getting them ready. It’s a lot of manual labor. The smells in the air are very strong because of all the turmeric and ginger. We are located in a rural part of Orissa. It’s beautiful but the roads can be rough sometimes. We don’t have a corporate office in a skyscraper. We operate out of Raikia. Mrs. Sasmita Behera helps manage things at the Nilungia site. We aren’t trying to be some massive international brand. We just want to get our local spices out there. It’s hard work and involves a lot of people from the village. We don’t use any complex marketing. We just let the spices speak for themselves. The weather here in Phulbani is different from the coast. It can get quite cool. We have a simple routine every day. We come in, check the quality, and get to work. It’s a practical way to live and work. We are proud of where we come from and what we do here.
