Umapathy & Sons

Our place is over in Chitlapakkam, inside the Acb Complex at number 19 on Pamban Swamigal Salai. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say the address, but most people just know us as the shop on Dayagar Avenue. Umapathy & Sons has been around for quite a bit, and it’s mostly just family members running the show. We’ve got stacks of ledgers and old boxes that have been sitting in the corners for years. The building itself is nothing special, just a solid concrete structure that keeps the rain out. We usually open up early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. You can hear the scooters buzzing by outside on the main road all day long. We spend most of our time talking to people who drop in, some just to say hello and others who actually need something done. There isn't a lot of standing on ceremony here. We wear regular clothes and don't mind if things get a bit disorganized during the busy season. Sometimes we lose a pen or forget where we put a specific receipt, but we always find it eventually. It’s a slow, steady kind of life in this part of town. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just stay here in the complex, handle the daily tasks, and go home when the sun sets. It’s been that way for as long as I can remember, and we're used to the routine.
