Our place is located in Athanancherry, specifically on the Vandalur Walajah Road in Padapai. We share some space near the Rural Development Educational and Economical Trust. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there is always noise from the trucks passing by. We work with spices, which means the air inside our unit is always thick with the scent of turmeric, chili, or coriander. It makes you sneeze sometimes if you aren't careful. We have a small group of people who handle the drying and grinding. It's a very hands-on process. We aren't using giant automated lines; it's more about watching the quality of each batch as it comes through. The bags come in from the farmers, and we spend our time sorting through them to make sure nothing bad gets mixed in. Padapai is growing fast, but we still feel like a small local outfit. The floors are often covered in a bit of dust from the grinding, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just the nature of the spice business. We keep our records in a small corner office that’s slightly quieter than the main floor. Most of our days are spent weighing things out and sealing up packets for the local markets. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. We've gotten used to the smells and the constant activity of the road outside. It's just what we do here.
