We are quite close to the bus stand, which means there is always a crowd nearby. It’s a busy part of the neighborhood, and we see all sorts of people walking past our doors every day. Silk is what we know, so our shelves are lined with different colors and patterns. It’s a lot of work keeping everything folded and looking neat, because once people start looking through the sarees, things get messy pretty fast. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It’s mostly just us and a few helpers who have been with us for years. We open up early to beat the heat, and we usually stay until the last bus passengers have cleared out for the night. The noise from the bus stand is something we’ve just grown used to over time. Sometimes it’s so loud you have to shout a bit to be heard, but that’s just life on Mettu Street. We don't do much in the way of fancy marketing. People usually find us because they saw the shop while waiting for their ride or someone told them about us. We just try to keep a good range of silks and treat everyone who walks in with a bit of common sense and honesty.
