Rajambal Cottons Sarees

Rajambal Cottons Sarees is a small shop at No. 37 Mettu Street. We are right near the Javalai Kadi Chatram. If you walk down Mettu Street, you will see our sign. It is a bit faded now but it’s still there. We have stacks of sarees everywhere. It is not the most organized shop you will ever see. We have been here for years. My family started this a long time ago. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of old fans that move the air around. It gets busy during the festival seasons. People come in and we show them different cottons. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. We just show what we have. Sometimes the stock is a bit low and we have to wait for more to arrive. The building is old and the wooden shelves creak a bit. We like the smell of the cotton. It is a very local business. We know the names of most of our regular customers. We don't have a computer for billing. We just use a paper bill book and a pen. It’s how we have always done it. Sometimes we close the shop early if there is a family function. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town. We just want to keep the tradition going. It gets dusty but we keep at it every single day without many complaints. The street outside is usually full of cows and bikes.
