Jai Balaji Steall Plant

This place is over in West Maligaon, Guwahati. We’re set up at Qr-No-3/B, which is really just a simple spot where we handle our daily business. Mr. R. K. Mitra is who you usually look for if you’re coming by. Guwahati can be quite humid, so the office usually has a fan humming in the corner all day long. We deal with steel and industrial bits, so it’s not exactly a clean or quiet environment. There’s always someone calling about a delivery or a truck that’s stuck somewhere in the district. Maligaon is a busy area, and being near the railway side of things means there’s always a lot of movement. We don’t have a big fancy reception area. It’s more of a place where people sit down, have a glass of water, and talk about the work that needs to be done. Sometimes we have to go out to the sites to see how the materials are being used. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the numbers in the ledger match the piles outside. The staff here is small, just a few of us who have known each other for years. We just try to get through the day's tasks without too much fuss. It's a practical business, and we've been at it for a while now, just staying consistent with our routines in this corner of Assam.
