Being located in Plot No. 92 of the GIDC Estate in Kalol means there is always something happening around us. We have been working with wood here for a long time. The smell of sawdust is the first thing you notice when you walk into the workshop. We handle different kinds of timber depending on what people ask for. Some days we are making simple frames and other days it is more about fixing old furniture that has seen better days. The machines we use are old but they still do the job if you treat them right. My staff and I usually start the day with a cup of tea while we look at the pile of wood that came in the night before. Gandhinagar gets quite dusty, and keeping the shop clean is almost impossible with all the planing and cutting we do. We just stack the finished pieces in the corner until the truck comes to pick them up. Sometimes the power goes out in the estate and we just sit outside and talk until it comes back on. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular wood shop where we get our hands dirty every single day. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small desk in the corner covered in drawings and measurements. It works for us and the people who come to see us here. We just try to keep the wood straight and the cuts clean.
