Darjeeling Exporters

Up here in the hills, Darjeeling Exporters operates out of Takdah, specifically in the Rungli, Rungliot, and Poomong area. It’s a beautiful place to work, but the mountain roads can be a real challenge, especially when the mist rolls in. We spend a lot of time dealing with the logistics of getting things down from the hills. The air is cool, and you can always smell the greenery around the warehouse. We aren't a big corporation with polished offices. Our workspace is more of a practical shed where we pack things up. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We’ve known each other for years, so the atmosphere is pretty relaxed even when we have a lot to do. We spend a lot of time checking the weather forecasts because a heavy rain can block the roads for days. When that happens, we just sit back, have some tea, and wait it out. It’s a different pace of life compared to the cities. We handle the local produce and get it ready for travel. There’s a lot of weighing and wrapping involved. Sometimes the scale acts up and we have to fix it ourselves. We don’t have a fancy website or a sales team. People usually find us through word of mouth or because they’ve seen our trucks on the road. We’re just trying to make a living in the mountains.
