We set up our little office in Juber Colony, right beside the Qaudri Clinic. It is a very easy spot to find in Gulbarga because we are so close to the Saba Function Hall. The whole area can get very crowded and loud when there is a big wedding or a party happening at the hall. We have a simple office where we do all our architectural drawings and planning. There are usually three of us here during the week. We spend a lot of time staring at computer screens and drawing lines on paper. The walls in here are mostly bare except for a couple of old calendars. We have a small electric kettle for making tea in the afternoons. It gets extremely hot in Gulbarga, so the air conditioning is usually running as long as the power stays on. We don't have a receptionist or anyone like that, so if the phone rings, whoever is closest just picks it up. We get a lot of people from the neighborhood walking in to ask about building permits or their house designs. The desks are always cluttered with big rolls of blueprints and long rulers. We try to keep everything moving along. Sometimes the printer jams up and we all have to stop what we are doing to fix it. It is just a normal, everyday office. We don't have big goals, we just want to finish the work we have on our plates.
