Swan Impex

If you stand outside Swan Impex, you can hear the conductors shouting destinations all day long. We are right opposite the bus stand, which is probably the busiest spot in town. It’s a bit of a chaotic place to work, but you get used to the sound of the engines and the crowds of people rushing to catch their rides. We do a lot of importing and exporting, so there’s always crates and boxes being moved around. My back usually aches by the end of the day from all the shifting we do. The office itself is simple. We have a few desks, a computer that’s a bit slow, and a lot of files piled up. Sometimes a traveler wanders in thinking we sell tickets, and we have to point them back across the street to the stand. It’s funny how often that happens. The dust from the buses settles on everything, so we are constantly wiping down the counters. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just make sure the goods get in and out on time. If a shipment is late, it’s a headache, but we manage. Most of the guys working here have been around for years. We eat our lunch together in the back room while the world rushes by outside. It’s just a regular business doing regular things in a very loud part of the city.
