This office is out in the Lakhpat area of Kutch, specifically in the GMDC Colony at Bx-3. If you’ve ever been out this way, you know it’s a bit remote and the landscape is quite something to see. We’re right in the middle of where the actual minerals are. Living and working in the colony for Gujart Mineral Development Corporation Limited means we’re a pretty tight-knit group. Everyone knows everyone else and their families too. Our work revolves around the local mining and development projects. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the equipment is running and the people on site are doing okay. The office itself is pretty plain, just a part of the colony buildings. We get a lot of dust because of the terrain, and the wind in Kutch can be quite strong depending on the season. We don't have the luxuries of a big city office, but we have what we need to get the job done. Most of our day is spent talking to the guys on the sites or handling the logistics of moving materials out of the district. It’s a long way from the big cities like Ahmedabad, but there’s a sense of purpose in what we do here. We just take it one day at a time, dealing with whatever challenges the land or the weather throws at us. It’s not for everyone, being out here in Skv Nagar, but we’ve made a life of it and we're happy here.
