The Gujarat Development And Finance Corporation is located at Jalaram Kutir. We take up the 1st floor of the building. It is a modest place, not at all like those big bank towers you see in the center of the city. Most people just call us GDFC. The building itself, Jalaram Kutir, has a bit of an old-school feel to it. Climbing up to the 1st floor is just part of the daily routine for all of us. We do not have any elevators or anything fancy like that here. The office is filled with desks, stacks of files, and the constant sound of people working. It is a quiet enough spot, tucked away from the main noise of the street. We have been here for quite some time, and the 1st floor has not changed much over the years. We have our regulars who come in, and we know most of them by name. It is a very local way of doing things. We do not spend money on expensive furniture or modern art for the walls. We just need a place to sit and do the daily paperwork. The windows look out over the neighborhood, giving us a view of the daily life going on outside Jalaram Kutir. It is a simple setup for GDFC, and it works perfectly for what we need. We just show up every morning, head up those stairs, and get to work until it is time to go.
