The terminal is out here in Una, right where the land meets the sea. It is a big site and we spend most of our time at Gujarat Chemical Port Company Terminal Limited making sure everything flows like it should. Usually, the mornings are the busiest. You see the tankers appearing on the horizon and that is when everyone starts getting the equipment ready. It is a lot of heavy pipes, valves, and monitoring screens. Most of us live nearby, so the commute isn't too bad, though the roads can get a bit rough during the monsoon season. The office is just a simple building on the edge of the property. It gets pretty hot during the summer months, so we keep the fans running all day long. We don't really do anything fancy here. It is just about moving chemicals from the ships to the storage area without any fuss. Sometimes the paperwork piles up on the desks, especially when multiple vessels arrive at the same time. We have a small canteen where we grab tea and talk about the day. There is always a smell of salt in the air because of the ocean. It is a tough environment but we are used to it. The metal gets rusty quick and we are always painting something to keep it from falling apart. It’s just how it goes when you work at a port terminal like this one.
