Our business is C N Spices and we are located at 24, Jalaram Society. It is right opposite the Police Head Quarter, which makes it very easy to find. If you stand outside our door, you can usually smell whatever we are grinding that day. Sometimes it’s chili and it makes everyone sneeze, or sometimes it is something sweeter like cinnamon. It’s a lively place to work. Being right across from the police station means there is always something going on in the street. We have a small yard where we dry some of the spices when the weather is good. You have to keep an eye on the clouds though. We use old-fashioned grinders for some things because the flavor comes out better that way. It’s a family business at heart. My cousins and I do most of the heavy lifting. The bags of whole spices are quite heavy. We don't have a big fancy showroom. It’s mostly just a warehouse and a small counter where we talk to customers. We write our orders down in big ledgers. It’s how we have always done it. The floor is always a bit stained from the turmeric and other colors, but that’s just how a spice place should look. We are just regular people making sure the spices are fresh and clean before they go out to the kitchens in the neighborhood.
