In the old part of Junagadh, the streets can be quite narrow and winding. Our business, S. K. Impex, is on Bukker Street in a building called Anmol. It is right in the heart of the city, so there is always the sound of bells and people talking outside. Since we deal with a lot of shipping and trading, the space is usually filled with big cardboard boxes and wooden pallets. There is not much room for fancy decorations when you have to store so many goods. Most of the day is spent looking at shipping manifests and checking the contents of crates that arrive from the port. The weather in Junagadh can get very humid, so the old stone walls of our building are a blessing because they keep things a little cooler. You can see the Girnar hill from the end of our street on a clear day, which is a nice view when we take our afternoon tea break. We do not have a big marketing department or any of that. It is mostly just us handling the paperwork and making sure the right boxes get on the right trucks. The ledgers are kept on a big desk in the back, and we still prefer writing things down by hand most of the time. It is a bit of an old-fashioned way to run an import-export business, but it works for us. We have been on Bukker Street for a long time and the neighbors all know us.
