We spend a lot of time here at Kalyan Haveli Lane. It's a small place, F-1 to be exact. The bhindis we make involve a lot of repetitive work, but we are used to it by now. The machines keep running most of the day. Sometimes the lane gets crowded with deliveries coming in and out. It’s not a fancy office, just a workspace where we get things done. Most of the staff have been with us for years. We know the neighbors well. On hot days, the fans barely help, but the work doesn't stop. We mostly focus on getting the orders out on time. There is always a pile of material in the corner waiting to be processed. We drink a lot of tea while we talk about the day's schedule. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, but we know where everything is kept. It’s just how things go here. We don’t have much to show in terms of decorations. It’s a manufacturing spot through and through. The glue smell is something you get used to after a week or so. Usually, we finish up by evening and lock the gate. It's a quiet life in a busy lane. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily production. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out. That's just part of being in this area. We make sure the counts are right before we pack.
