Out here in the village of Jamavala, life moves at a different pace. We are based in the Gir Gadhda area of Junagadh district. Everything revolves around the mangoes. It’s not a factory in the city; it’s more about the trees and the seasons. When the weather gets hot, that’s when the real work starts. We spend our days out where the fruit grows. There’s a lot of dust and sun. We handle the picking, sorting, and packing right here. Our post office is in Gir Gadhda, but most of our time is spent on the land. It’s hard work, especially when the crates are heavy. We have to check the fruit carefully. It’s not a perfect science. Some years are better than others depending on the rain. The air smells like soil and fruit most of the time. We aren't some big corporate office. We’re just local people doing what we’ve done for a long time. The roads out here aren't always the smoothest for the trucks. We deal with the logistics of getting things moved from the village to the markets. It’s a lot of manual labor and long hours during the peak months. When the season ends, things get a bit quieter, but there is always maintenance to do. It’s just how it goes in the village. We wake up early to beat the midday heat and stay out until the sun goes down behind the orchards.
