Sarswati Kirana Stor

The shop is called Sarswati Kirana Stor and we are situated in Nayapura, specifically in the Bhati Khem Singh Market on Mandore Road. Jodhpur is always hot, so we have a heavy curtain hanging at the front to keep the sun from hitting the goods directly. It’s a bit dark inside once you walk in, but you get used to it. I’ve got all kinds of things piled up, from big sacks of grain to those small sachets of shampoo that people like. Nayapura is a decent place to be, and the market stays pretty active until late at night. I usually close up around nine or so, depending on if there are people still wandering around. The spelling on the sign outside says 'Stor' because the painter ran out of space, but nobody seems to mind. I handle everything myself, from ordering the stock to sweeping the floor every morning before the first customer arrives. Mandore Road is always humming with bikes and trucks going past. Sometimes the dust gets in everything, so I have to spend a lot of time with a cloth cleaning the jars. It’s a simple life, really. I know which neighbors like which brand of tea and who always forgets to bring their own bag. It’s just a small shop in a busy market, doing what we can to keep things moving for the people around here.
