Salasar Balaji Provision & General Store

Down here in Sector 4 of the Kudi Bhagtasni Housing Board, things stay pretty steady for us. We are located at Shop No 4 B32, right behind the Power House. If you live in this part of Jodhpur, you probably know the area well. It’s a residential neighborhood, so we see a lot of families coming in throughout the day. The shop is a mix of a provision store and a general store, meaning we carry a bit of everything for the house. It’s a small operation. We open up early and usually stay late because that’s when people realize they’ve run out of something for their evening meal. The Jodhpur heat can be a lot in the summer, so we spend a fair bit of time trying to keep the place cool and the products out of the direct sun. It’s not a fancy corporate store; the shelves are wooden and sometimes the inventory gets a bit jumbled when we're busy. We don't use any high-tech systems, just a notebook and some patience to keep things running. Working behind the Power House means it’s easy for people to give directions to find us. We’ve had some regulars coming here since we first opened the doors. It’s mostly just us chatting with neighbors while we weigh out grains or bag up some items. We don't do much advertising; people just know we're here. It’s a quiet life, mostly focused on keeping the shelves stocked.
