R. B. Stones

R. B. Stones is located over in Mandore at the Stone Park. We occupy spaces G-34 and G-35. It is exactly what it sounds like, a big area filled with people working on rocks and slabs. There is a lot of white dust in the air most days. We have our yard where we keep the different types of stone we’ve collected. It’s hard work, out in the open, and the sun in Mandore can be quite strong. We start our days early to get as much done as possible before the noon heat hits. Most of the guys here have grown up around this trade. We don't use much fancy technology, just the saws and the tools that have worked for years. People come to us when they need blocks for building or just some raw material for a project. We keep a ledger for everything, though it gets a bit worn out from all the handling. There are always trucks backing in and out of the units. It’s a tight-knit community here in the Stone Park. Everyone knows everyone else’s business. We just try to stay focused on our own piles of stone. It isn’t the cleanest job, but there is something satisfying about seeing the finished pieces loaded up. We close up when the light starts to fade and head home for a bit of rest before doing it again.
