In the Lohawat area of Jodhpur, you will find Pawan Putra Kirana Store. We are located near Mahadev Mandir, right in the Vishanawas part of the Chodhary Market on Nai Sarak. It is a traditional kind of setup. We deal in all the basic kitchen necessities that the families around here need. Being near the mandir means we get a lot of foot traffic, especially during festival days or on Mondays. The shop is filled with the smell of spices and gunny bags. We sell things by weight, scooping out dal or rice into paper bags. It is how we have always done it. The market can be very dusty and hot, especially in the Jodhpur summer, but we have a good fan that keeps things moving. We aren't a big supermarket with trolleys. You just stand at the counter and tell us what you want. My sons help me with the heavy lifting when the new stock arrives from the city. We have a lot of respect for our neighbors and the people who have shopped with us for generations. The building is old, and the floors are a bit uneven, but it has character. We don't have a computer to keep track of things; it is all done in our heads and in a few ledgers. It is a simple way of life and we wouldn't have it any other way.
