National Watch Mobile Repair

The shop is right on Paota Road here in Jodhpur. It is a small space, mostly filled with tiny screws, glass screens, and those little tools you need for opening up a mobile phone or an old watch. You can see the traffic moving outside all day long. It gets pretty dusty with all the vehicles going by, so I am always wiping down the glass counters. Most of the time, I am sitting under a bright lamp trying to see the gears inside a watch or a loose wire on a motherboard. People come in with cracked screens or watches that stopped ticking months ago. Sometimes the repairs take a few minutes, other times I have to tell them to come back tomorrow after I have had more time to look. I have been sitting in this same spot for a long time now. The wall behind me is covered in old clocks that do not always show the right time, but they look nice anyway. Rajasthan summers are tough, so the fan is always running at full speed, making that clicking noise. It is not a quiet place, but it is where I get my work done. I do not use a computer for my accounts, just a big paper ledger where I write everything down by hand. It works for me. If you are walking down Paota Road, you will see the sign hanging out front, maybe a bit crooked, but it is there.
