Narayan General Store

Narayan General Store is our family shop on Old Sabzi Mandi Road. We are situated in Jodhamal Colony, which is a neighborhood where people still stop to talk to each other. We are right near Laxmi Palace, so it's a good spot for us. The store is packed with all kinds of things. We have bags of rice, soap, snacks, and whatever else the locals need. It gets a bit cramped inside because we try to stock as much as possible. Sometimes the delivery guys leave boxes in the middle of the floor and we have to step over them until we get everything shelved. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just a regular store with wooden shelves that have been there for years. The floor is concrete and we sweep it every morning before the first customers arrive. Old Sabzi Mandi Road is always noisy with traffic and people shouting, but we like the energy. We know most of our customers by their first names because they’ve been coming here for a long time. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just open the doors and wait for people to come in. If someone needs something we don't have, we try to get it for them next time. It’s a simple life and we are happy to be part of Jodhamal Colony. The heat can be tough in the summer, but we just keep the fan running and keep going.
