Marwar Trading

Our place, Marwar Trading, is tucked away on Talsha Road in Masti Market. We are quite close to the Masti Pir Baba Dargah, so you can always hear the sounds from there, which is quite peaceful even when the market is frantic. We deal in all sorts of trading goods. It’s a lot of buying low and selling for a tiny bit more just to keep the lights on. The shop is usually full of boxes stacked right up to the ceiling. Sometimes I worry they might tip over, but we’ve gotten good at balancing them. Masti Market is always crowded, and getting a vehicle down Talsha Road is a nightmare most days. We spend a lot of time just waiting for deliveries to navigate through the traffic. It’s a family-run thing, so you’ll usually see my cousins or my uncle helping out with the loading. We don't have a computer for the sales, just a big ledger and a calculator that’s missing the 'zero' button, so we have to press it hard. It’s not a perfect system, but it works for us. We aren't big shots. We just know our products and we know the people who buy them. It’s a busy, dusty life in the market, but we wouldn't know what else to do with ourselves. You get used to the noise and the constant movement after a few years. It's just home to us.
