Majisa Kirana

Majisa Kirana is located right by the bus stand in Shergarh. Being in a place like Jodhpur, it gets incredibly dusty, especially with all the buses pulling in and out all day long. My shop is where people wait when their bus is late. They come in for a bottle of water or some biscuits to eat on their journey. I also sell a lot of grains and spices to the people living nearby. I grew up around here, so I know almost everyone who passes through. The shop isn't very big, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for us. I keep the heavy sacks of cattle feed near the entrance because they are too hard to move around much. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting bags and climbing the ladder to reach the top shelves. I don't have a computer to track things; I just use a notebook and my memory. Sometimes I close for an hour in the afternoon for a nap when it’s too hot to move. When the sun goes down, the locals come by to buy stuff for their evening meals. It’s a steady life. We don't have any fancy displays. I just put the stuff out where people can see it. It’s just a normal village shop serving the travelers and the neighbors. I usually stay until the last bus leaves the station at night and then I head home myself.
