We still use a lot of manual machines alongside the computers because people still need to learn the basics properly. It’s a rhythmic sound, all those keys clicking at once. It can be quite loud when the room is full. People come here for all sorts of reasons. Some want to get a government job and need to pass a typing test, and others just want to get faster for their own work. We don't have a big reception desk or fancy waiting area. It’s mostly just rows of desks with machines on them. We watch how people hold their hands and tell them to keep their eyes on the paper, not the keys. It's a bit old-fashioned, maybe, but it works. We've seen hundreds of people come through these doors. Some learn fast, others take months of practice. We just let them go at their own pace. There’s no rush here, just steady practice. The lighting in the room isn't the best, and the chairs are a bit stiff, but it’s a place for work. We keep the machines oiled and try to help everyone who walks in. It’s a simple living for us, and we like the routine of it all. Most days are pretty much the same and we prefer it that way.
