Indian Emporium

We are situated at 147 Kamla Nehru Nagar, specifically on Pakija Chakki Street near Park Street. It is a bit of a tucked-away spot, but people find us eventually. We have been running Indian Emporium here for quite a few years. The shop has all sorts of items crammed into it. We don't really have a specific focus, just things that people might need for their homes or for gifts. The street outside is usually full of people and small vehicles, so it gets noisy. Inside, it’s a bit calmer, though we have boxes stacked in the corners. We spend a lot of time dusting the shelves because the street dust finds its way in no matter what we do. It’s not a fancy showroom. We have old wooden counters and some light bulbs that flicker sometimes. My family helps out with the daily tasks, like talking to customers or checking the stock. We get our items from various wholesalers. Some things sit on the shelf for a long time, and other things go fast. We don't do much advertising. People mostly know about us by walking past or hearing it from a neighbor. It is a simple way to run a business. We open the shutters early and close them late. We don’t have fancy uniforms or anything like that. We just wear our regular clothes and get to work. It’s just how things are done here on Pakija Chakki Street, day in and day out.
