Kajoo Katlee Wala

Sojati Gate is a very busy area with people everywhere. Working at Kajoo Katlee Wala means dealing with the crowd every single day. The noise from the market is constant. We spend a lot of our time just folding boxes and stacking them up against the wall. There is not much space to move around back there. The shelves are always full of containers. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front of the shop and it gets quite bright inside. We have to keep the glass clean because people are always leaning on it to look at what is inside. Most of our customers are in a hurry because they have to catch a bus or find their parked bike. We do not talk much, just do the weighing and the billing. Sometimes we have a cup of tea while standing by the entrance. You see all sorts of things happening out on the street at Sojati Gate. It is a loud place but you get used to it after a few weeks. The floor is made of old stone and it has seen a lot of feet walking over it. We do not have any fancy signs, just the name above the door. We just focus on keeping the trays full and making sure the labels are straight. It is a lot of manual work and long hours on our feet.
