Jodhpur General Store

This store is situated on Bhagat Ki Kothi Road, which is right by the station here in Jodhpur. Being near the Bhagat Ki Kothi Station means we see a lot of different people every single day. Some are just getting off the train and need a bottle of water or some biscuits for their journey, while others are locals who have lived on New Pali Road for decades. We stay open pretty early to catch the first commuters. The shop has a bit of everything because people's needs change depending on if they are traveling or just going home. It gets quite loud with the train whistles and the Rickshaws honking outside, but it keeps things interesting. We have stacks of different items piled up, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling, so I have to use a small stool to reach the top stuff. Jodhpur can get incredibly hot in the summer, so the shade from our front awning is a popular spot for people to stand for a second. We don't do anything fancy with the decor; it’s just sturdy shelves and a basic counter. We’ve been here on this road for a while, and the routine of opening up and greeting the regulars is what keeps us going. It’s just a plain general store serving the station crowd and the neighborhood.
