Indra Stone

Out here at 274 B Rajbagh Soorsagar, we’ve got our little corner for Indra Stone. It’s a quiet enough spot most mornings until we start moving the inventory. We’ve been here long enough that the locals know where to find us. The work is mostly just sorting through the stone and making sure everything is where it should be. It’s heavy work, and at the end of the day, we’re all pretty tired. We don't have any fancy signs or a big lobby. It’s just the yard and the stone. We try to keep things simple. If someone needs a piece of stone, they come by, we show them what’s available, and that’s about it. No long meetings or complicated paperwork. Sometimes we have a tea break under the shade when it gets too hot to move. The stones sit out in the sun all day, so they can get pretty warm to the touch. We’ve learned over the years which pieces are the best for certain jobs. It’s not something you learn from a book, just from handling them every day. The yard can look a bit cluttered to someone else, but we know exactly where everything is. It’s a small operation, just a few of us keeping things moving at our own pace. We aren't in a rush to grow too big because we like knowing our customers by name. The radio is usually playing in the background while we work. It keeps the energy up during the long afternoons. We just do what we do.
