Goutam Handloom

Our little shop, Goutam Handloom, is tucked away near the Masjid in Moti Chowk. Jodhpur is a beautiful city, but it’s also very crowded and noisy in the old parts where we are. We’ve been in this spot for quite some time. It’s not a big fancy place with air conditioning and glass doors. It’s an old-fashioned space where we keep our stock and do our business. You can hear the sounds of the market all day long. Sometimes it’s hard to hear the phone over the noise outside. We don't have a team of people to handle marketing or fancy stuff. It’s just us. We spend our time checking the items and talking to people who stop by. We don't use big words to describe what we do. It’s just handloom work, plain and simple. We like being near the mosque because it’s a central point for everyone. People know where we are. Our office isn't very organized, to be honest. There are stacks of things everywhere, but we have our own system for finding what we need. We don't want to be a big corporation. We like being a local business where we know our customers by name. It’s a lot of work and some days are very long, but we’re happy to be here in Moti Chowk. It’s just a normal life for us.
