Being in the basement means it stays a little cooler during those really hot summer days, which is one of the few perks of being underground. The space is filled with boxes of cameras, rolls of wire, and different kinds of security gear scattered on the shelves. It is not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is when we need it. The lighting is a bit dim because of the lack of windows, so we have several floor lamps scattered around the desks to see what we are doing. Working in a basement means you don't see much of the outside world until you walk back up those concrete steps at the end of the shift.
