Bharat Kirana & General Store

The shop, Bharat Kirana & General Store, is located right in D D P Nagar, specifically at number 112. We are in the Madhuban Housing Board area of Jodhpur, which is usually quite a busy place with people coming and going. I started this store because there was a need for a place where someone could just walk in and get their daily kitchen needs without a fuss. We have the usual stacks of flour, different types of lentils, and those little packets of spices that everyone uses. Jodhpur weather is quite dry, so I make sure we have plenty of cold drinks in the fridge for the local workers. The space isn't huge, but we make it work by stacking things high up. Sometimes I need a ladder to get the big tins of oil down for a customer. I try to remember what each neighbor likes, so I can keep it ready. It’s a simple business. I open early in the morning before most people go to work and stay open until the street lights are on. There’s always something to do, like checking the expiry dates or sweeping the front step. The Madhuban area has grown a lot since I first opened, and now there are more houses around us. It’s good to see familiar faces every day. I don’t use any computers for the accounts, just a big notebook and a pen. It works for me.
