Bhadariya General Store

Out in Balesar near Jodhpur we have the Bhadariya General Store. We are located right near the Power House which is the main landmark for anyone trying to find us. The area is quite open and the wind blows a lot of sand into the shop. I spend a lot of my time with a broom in my hand. It is a simple place with whitewashed walls that have turned a bit yellow over time. I sell everything from cooking oil to basic medicines and cattle feed. People around here come from the nearby farms. They usually buy in bulk because they don't want to come into town every day. I have to keep the stock levels high so I don't disappoint them. The delivery truck comes once a week if the weather is good. If there is a sandstorm it might be late. I just sit on a plastic chair out front when it is quiet. The sun sets right behind the hills and it is the best part of the day. I don't have any fancy computers or a big sign with lights. Just a painted board above the door. It is a long drive from the main city of Jodhpur so I have to be careful about what I order. I don't want things sitting on the shelf for too long. It is just an honest way to spend the day for me and my family.
