Granite Stone House

Granite Stone House is located at No. 594 on B Road. It is a straightforward place where we keep a lot of granite. We have been here for a while and the neighbors know us well enough. Most of our time is spent moving heavy slabs from one side of the shed to the other. It is not glamorous work but it is what we do. The inventory changes depending on what we can get in. Some days we have a lot of dark colors and other days it is mostly light stuff. People come in off B Road and walk through the aisles to see what looks good to them. We try to keep things organized but with so much stone, it can get a little messy. We are usually here from early morning until the sun goes down. We handle the cutting and the polishing right here on the site. You can hear the machines running most of the time if you walk past. It is a family-run kind of setup, so things are pretty casual. We don't use any high-tech systems for tracking things, just a pen and some paper usually. If someone needs a piece of granite for a kitchen or a floor, we just show them what is available in the back. It is a simple way of doing things and it works for us. We don't have any big plans to change how we run the shop because it has been doing okay for us and our customers for years.
