Most days here at B L Parihar Sand Stone start with the sound of traffic near Soor Sagar Circle. We’ve been working out of this spot for a long time, and you definitely get used to the dust on your boots. Being near the masjid means we hear the calls to prayer throughout the day, which kind of marks the time for us. Chopat Road is always busy, so there’s never a quiet moment. People come by looking for different types of sandstone slabs. We don't have a fancy showroom. We just show them what’s out in the yard. It’s heavy work, and the guys are usually pretty worn out by the end of the shift. The sun hits the stone and makes the whole place feel like an oven in the summer. We just keep the water jug full and keep moving. Our office is just a small desk in the corner where we handle the bills. It’s not much to look at, but it’s where the business happens. We don't use big words or try to act like we’re more than we are. We just know stone. If a truck shows up late, we just deal with it. That’s how it goes when you’re working with heavy materials. We’ve been here long enough that most people in the area know exactly where to find us without needing a map.
