Ashok Tiles

Hopardi Village is a quiet place, but we keep busy at Ashok Tiles. We are located near the Ram Mandir, which is the main landmark for anyone trying to find us. The Phalodi Post Office is where we get our mail, and the whole area is part of the Phalodi Tehsil. It gets incredibly hot here, as anyone from this part of Rajasthan will tell you. We spend our days under the tin roof, organizing stacks of tiles and making sure nothing gets cracked. The village life suits us fine. You won't find any suit-and-tie people here. We wear old clothes because the work is messy and the dust gets everywhere. Sometimes people stop by on their way to the temple just to say hello or ask about prices. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just rely on people knowing where we are. The stone and tile business is slow some months and very fast in others, especially when people are finishing their houses before the festive season. My family has lived in this area for generations, so we know everyone around the Phalodi region. It’s just a basic yard with a lot of heavy lifting. We focus on getting the slabs moved and helping the loaders get the trucks ready for delivery.
