Ahmed R Company

Ahmed R Company is located inside the Sojati Gate area, which is always packed with people and motorbikes. We are right near the Bata showroom, so if you find that, you can find us. The shop has been here for years and the walls are covered with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. It is always a bit dark inside because the buildings are so close together in this part of the city, but we have some bright lights to help us see what we are doing. We deal with a lot of different things throughout the day. People come in from the villages nearby and customers from the local neighborhood are always dropping in. The noise from the market outside is constant, with vendors shouting and horns honking, but you stop hearing it after a while. We keep a small stool near the door where we sit when things are slow. Dealing with the heat in the summer is the hardest part since the air doesn't move much in these narrow streets. We use old ledgers to keep track of what goes out and what comes in. Sometimes the stock gets piled up in the middle of the floor when a new delivery arrives, and we have to climb over boxes for a day or two. It is a traditional way of running a business, nothing fancy or modern about it. We just know our regulars and try to keep enough stock on the shelves for them.
