A. P. Stone Co. is located on Kanchan Bal Mandir Road, right in the station area. This part of town is always moving because of the people catching trains and the local markets nearby. Our yard is filled with all sorts of stone, and it’s a very physical place to work. We spend our days moving heavy slabs and cutting them to size. It’s not the kind of work you can do without getting your hands dirty. There is always a layer of stone dust on everything, including our clothes and the small office we have in the corner. We don’t have any fancy brochures or a corporate office. When a customer comes in, we just walk them around the yard and show them the different types of stone we have available. We talk about the price and the weight and how long it will take to get it delivered. It’s a very straightforward way of doing business. The noise from the station and the traffic on the road is the soundtrack to our day. We have a few guys who have been working with us for a long time, and they know exactly how to handle the heavy material without causing any damage. We aren't trying to be the biggest stone company in the world. We just want to provide what people need and make sure the business stays afloat. It’s honest, heavy work that we’ve been doing for years.
