Our shop, Janu Steel, is located right on Railway Station Road in the Jhunjhunu district. Being so close to the station means there’s always something happening. We hear the trains coming and going all day long. It’s a good spot because it’s easy for people to find us when they come into town. We mostly sell steel rods and sheets to local builders and farmers who are fixing up their places. The building we’re in is nothing special, just a sturdy place to keep the inventory dry. We’ve got a couple of guys who help with the heavy loading. It’s tough work, especially in the summer heat of Rajasthan, but we take plenty of breaks for water and tea. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the world. We just want to provide what the local community needs. Sometimes we run out of a certain size, and we have to tell people to come back in a few days once the next truck arrives. We try to be fair with everyone. There’s no polished sales pitch here. We just show you the steel, tell you the weight, and figure out the price. It’s the way my father did things, and it’s the way we still do them. If you’re ever near the railway station, you’ll probably see us out front moving things around or talking to a customer. We just keep things simple and honest.
