Raju Bricks

Raju Bricks is located out in Goalmara, near Gopiballavpur. We’re pretty close to the police station there, which is a good landmark if you’re trying to find us. The post office is in Jahanpur and we fall under the Beliabera police station area. It’s a rural setting, and the work we do is very much tied to the land. Making bricks is what we know. We have a crew of workers who have been with us for a long time. They know the rhythm of the kiln and how to handle the clay. It’s not a fancy business with computers and high-speed internet. We do most of our talking face-to-face or over a simple mobile phone. The yard is usually full of stacks of bricks waiting to be moved out. It’s a dusty place, especially when the wind blows across the fields. We don’t have a glossy brochure or a big website. People in Goalmara and the surrounding villages just know we’re here. They come by on their bikes or in their trucks to see what we have ready. We try to keep a decent stock so nobody leaves disappointed. It’s hard work, especially during the summer months when the sun is beating down on the yard. But it’s what we do, and we take some pride in seeing our bricks used in the local houses and walls around the district.
